As I was reading a prayer for the afternoon from by Orthodox prayer book I just remembered that in Revelation 4:8 we see a model in Heaven of praying pre-written prayer and praying it over and over again. The verse says,
“The four living creatures…do not rest night or day saying, ‘Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, Who was and is and is to come!”
There it is. One piece of heavenly worship. God is glorified and accepts pre-written and repeated prayers. Obviously He would reject ones that are not truly an honest cry from the heart or ones that are not true of Him. Otherwise there there is biblical evidence of this practice. This helps my conscience as I got older and began to pray only “spontaneous” prayers.
